  • Hunters Point Naval Shipyard (HPS), San Francisco, CA
  • My Thesis is in two integrated parts, the first being a realigning of the current HPS Master Plan and the second being a catalyst building
  • The revised Master Plan embraces central tenants of Emergent Urbanism + Adaptive Reuse
  • The catalyst building embraces the reparation of the damaged urban tissue - by further integrating the human and ecological process within our shared ecosystem

  • ONUS Aid Stations provide immediate, targeted seismic disaster relief for the urban environment
  • ONUS Aid Stations are designed to be community centers purposed to enhance the weakest areas of San Francisco’s earthquake readiness: Preparedness, Early Warning, Impact Assessment and Response Coordination

DARK SKY SPACE + SCIENCE CENTER
STUDIO ASSIGNMENT // DECEMBER 2012
  • This project was shaped by the phenomenon of the invisible, specifically commercial satellites, space debris and light pollution
  • The structural system and internal organization was determined largely by the paths of communication satellites that pass directly over San Francisco
  • The program abandoned the traditional single observatory and replaced it with a series of fully and partially enclosed theaters of varying sizes. The largest of which is the entire outside of the building which is comprised of media glass

  • This competition did not have a program requirement. It was meant to offer design alternatives to a proposed Kaiser Permanente facility in the Lower Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco
  • We investigated the rich history of the site and designed hybridized series of programs including, the San Francisco Institute of Urban Agriculture, the San Francisco Museum of Industrial Heritage and a Farm-to-Community Marketplace

  • Designed as an annex to the University of California's (UCSF) Mission Bay Campus, the only campus that is dedicated exclusively to the health sciences
  • The design includes deployable classrooms (shipping containers) that allows the culinary school's education and advocacy work to reach out to the region in innovative ways
